The Genius of La Closerie Dinner

    S.K.Y. · 2300 N Lincoln Park W, Chicago, IL 60614

With Jérôme Prévost, Agnès Prévost, Stephen Gillanders

    $1,650.00

One of the most sought-after grower estates in Champagne today, La Closerie is the brainchild of star winemaker Jérôme Prévost and his wife Agnès. Known as a champion of Pinot Meunier and master of organic and intuitive farming, Jérôme produces intensely vinous wines of exuberant personality from his winery in Gueux in the western Montagne de Reims. This intimate lunch with Jérôme and Agnès will kick off with a taste of his cuvée “Esperluette” and flight of Les Béguines, putting Jérôme’s deft touch with Meunier on full display. We will continue with a flight of Jérôme’s newest project, an ultra-limited Grand Cru Champagne that is a blend of Pinot Noir from Puisieulx and Chardonnay from Le Mesnil. The evening will close with the extraordinarily small-production “d’un Iota”, a rosé produced from blanc de noirs Meunier with a splash of red wine, and the impossibly rare Les Béguines 2021 in magnum. The wines will be paired with a tasting menu of Chef Stephen Gillanders’ contemporary American cuisine at Le Mistral, the wine bar and speakeasy inside Lincoln Park hotspot S.K.Y..

    Lunch with Larmandier-Bernier

    Obélix · 700 N Sedgwick St, Chicago, IL 60654

    With Arthur Larmandier

    $495.00

Champagne Larmandier-Bernier is one of the Côte des Blancs' finest producers. Though both families trace their roots in the region to the French Revolution, the domaine was formally established with the marriage of Philippe Larmandier and Elisabeth Bernier in 1971. Today, Pierre and Sophie Larmandier — joined by their son Arthur — farm just under eighteen hectares across the Grand Cru villages of Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, and Avize, as well as the Premier Cru village of Vertus, their home base. The family’s uncompromising approach to farming – organic & biodynamic – and restrained approach in the cellar creates wines of remarkable textural purity, chalky minerality, and precise balance: accessible young, yet built to age for decades. Arthur Larmandier will present a magnificent array of wines at this lunch at brothers Oliver & Nicolas Poilevey’s beloved restaurant Obélix, from a vertical of the profound brut nature Terre de Vertus, to the family’s precious Grands Crus of Les Chemins d’Avize (two prime parcels in Avize) and Vieille Vigne du Levant (from old vines in Cramant, some of which are over 80 years old), to a rare taste of Coteaux Champenois Rouge from Vertus.

    Dinner with Frédéric Savart

RPM Steak · 66 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL 60654

    With Frédéric Savart

    $850.00

Frédéric Savart is one of the most compelling grower-producers in all of Champagne — a fiercely independent winemaker whose wines have quietly become some of the most coveted in the world. Born into a family of vignerons, Frédéric's first love was football — he even signed a youth contract with Stade de Reims as an attacking midfielder — before returning home to work alongside his father Daniel. The family estate was founded by his grandfather René, who purchased his first vines in Écueil in 1947. Since 2005, Frédéric has been at the helm, steadily elevating the quality and reputation of the estate. This dinner with the man himself will begin with an array of wines expressing the distinctive yet varied soils of Ecueil and Villers-aux-Nœuds in the Petite Montagne de Reims, producing wines that are simultaneously vibrant and refined. More recently, Frédéric has ventured outside the family’s historical parcels into other prime areas of the Marne, and we will be privileged to taste two of the results from magnum - Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the lieu-dit “Les Voiettes” in Verzenay as well as Grand Cru Chardonnay from Le Mesnil sur Oger. Closing with a pair of rosés underlining Frédéric’s mastery of the rosé d’assemblage method, this evening at RPM Steak is a superb opportunity to meet one of Champagne’s great winemaking personalities and taste some truly rare bottlings.

    Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle Masterclass

Avec River North · 141 W Erie St, Chicago, IL 60654

    With Edouard Cossy

    $95.00

While most of Champagne’s prestige cuvées are vintage wines, Laurent-Perrier takes a contrary approach, believing that the art of assemblage can create the impossible - a perfect year. This takes the form of Grand Siècle, Laurent-Perrier’s remarkable top Champagne where each iteration is the blend of three complementary vintages that create a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts. This masterclass with Edouard Cossy, Global Director of Grand Siècle, will reveal the house’s philosophies through a tasting of four wines, beginning with Millésimé 2018 as an example of a single vintage followed by three examples of Grand Siècle - N°27, created from 2015, 2013, and 2012, and a comparison of N°24 – crafted from 2007, 2006, and 2004 – in both bottle and magnum, showcasing the varied timelines of evolution afforded by different formats.
