Rosewood São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil
    #6

    Rosewood São Paulo

    São Paulo, Brazil

    Hotel

Rosewood São Paulo is the luxury pick to prioritize when rates are close and third-party recognition matters. Book it for a high-confidence São Paulo stay with strong award signals and meaningful upgrade-program potential, not for bargain pricing. Value is strongest when a benefits-backed rate adds breakfast, credit, late checkout, or upgrade priority.

Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, Beijing, China
    #7

    Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing

    Beijing, China

    Hotel

A strong choice for a quieter Beijing celebration or family stay, especially if Qianmen's historic setting matters more than a large business-hotel setup. The 2025 MICHELIN Guide Hotels 2 Keys and boutique-hotel awards give it real luxury credibility, but travelers who need scale, meeting convenience, or a grand-hotel rhythm should cross-shop Beijing's larger peers.

Upper House Hong Kong, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong
    #8

    Upper House Hong Kong

    Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong

    Hotel

A strong Hong Kong Island pick for travelers who want a calm Admiralty base with serious hotel recognition. Upper House Hong Kong is easiest to justify for couples, business travelers, and families who value location and low-friction logistics over a lowest-rate stay or resort-style programming.

    Chablé Yucatán, Mérida, Mexico
    #9

    Chablé Yucatán

    Mérida, Mexico

    Hotel

Chablé Yucatán is a hotel in Chocholá, Yucatán.

    Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand
    #10

    Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

    Bangkok, Thailand

    Hotel

Choose Mandarin Oriental Bangkok if the point of the stay is heritage atmosphere, polished service confidence, and a Bang Rak base rather than simply a room between outings. Its Michelin 3 Keys, Forbes 5-Star recognition, and La Liste 99.5-point 2026 score support the splurge, but value depends on using the hotel’s public spaces and setting, not just sleeping there. Peak Bangkok dates need early planning.

    Aman Tokyo

    Tokyo, Japan

    Hotel

    Paris, France

    Hotel

Hôtel de Crillon is a hotel overlooking Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
    #15

    Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates

    Hotel

A high-demand Jumeirah beach-cluster hotel for travelers who want the newer luxury option with serious awards momentum. Book it for a resort-led Dubai stay near Umm Suqeim, not as a value play or a last-minute fallback. Dining should be treated as part of the on-property convenience unless a specific restaurant lineup drives the trip.

    Capella Sydney, Sydney, Australia
    #16

    Capella Sydney

    Sydney, Australia

    Hotel

Capella Sydney is a hotel on Loftus Street in Sydney.

    Raffles Hotel Singapore, Singapore, Singapore
    #17

    Raffles Hotel Singapore

    Singapore, Singapore

    Hotel

Raffles Hotel Singapore is a hotel on Beach Road in Singapore.

    Casa Maria Luigia, Modena, Italy
    #18

    Casa Maria Luigia

    Modena, Italy

    Hotel

Casa Maria Luigia is the Modena splurge for a food-led celebration, not the default choice for city-center convenience. Its Michelin 3 Keys and major hotel-list recognition justify considering it when the stay itself is the occasion, but travelers prioritizing walkability should compare central options like Hotel Cervetta 5 or Hotel Rua Frati 48 in San Francesco.

    Le Bristol Paris, Paris, France
    #19

    Le Bristol Paris

    Paris, France

    Hotel

Le Bristol Paris is a hotel on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.

Potato Head Suites & Studios, Seminyak, Indonesia
    #21

    Potato Head Suites & Studios

    Seminyak, Indonesia

    Hotel

Potato Head Suites & Studios is worth shortlisting for a Seminyak celebration or date-focused Bali stay where Petitenget access is the main advantage. The 2026 La Liste Top Hotels score and Virtuoso Luxury Hotel Partner status add useful validation, but the decision comes down to fit: choose it for social, design-led Seminyak energy rather than a quiet resort escape.

San Ysidro Ranch, Montecito, United States
    #22

    San Ysidro Ranch

    Montecito, United States

    Hotel

San Ysidro Ranch is a resort in the foothills of Montecito, California.

    One&Only Mandarina, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
    #23

    One&Only Mandarina

    Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

    Hotel

One&Only Mandarina is a resort in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico.

    Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan
    #24

    Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo

    Tokyo, Japan

    Hotel

Book Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo if the priority is privacy, skyline calm, polished service, and a hotel that can handle dining, wellness, and logistics in one place. It is strongest for couples, business travelers, and repeat Tokyo visitors who want Yaesu access without street-level intensity. If the trip is mostly out in the city, the rate is harder to justify.

Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort, San José del Cabo, Mexico
    #25

Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort

    San José del Cabo, Mexico

    Hotel

    The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai

    Mumbai, India

    Hotel

The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai is a hotel at Apollo Bandar in Colaba, Mumbai.

    The Peninsula Istanbul, Istanbul, Turkey
    #31

    The Peninsula Istanbul

    Istanbul, Turkey

    Hotel

Book The Peninsula Istanbul when the stay itself matters: waterfront Karaköy location, luxury-hotel service depth, and strong 2025–2026 recognition make it a smart high-spend choice. Value-seekers should compare nearby Karaköy and Galata hotels first, especially for short stays where preferred-partner perks or direct-booking extras are not part of the rate.

    Bulgari Hotel Roma, Rome, Italy
    #32

    Bulgari Hotel Roma

    Rome, Italy

    Hotel

Bulgari Hotel Roma is the Rome splurge to prioritize when the hotel needs to carry the trip, not just host it. Its Piazza Augusto Imperatore address, Marriott connection, Virtuoso status, Michelin 3 Keys, and World's 50 Best Hotels placement make it strongest for special occasions, business travel, and loyalty-aware luxury stays rather than value-led city breaks.

    Patina Osaka, Osaka, Japan
    #33

    Patina Osaka

    Osaka, Japan

    Hotel

Patina Osaka is worth pricing for travelers who want a calmer luxury base near Osaka Castle, backed by a 2025 Michelin 1 Key and 2026 hotel recognition. The value case depends on room category discipline: book the entry tier first unless extra space will be used for work, family travel, or a retreat-style stay.

Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa
    #34

Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town

    Cape Town, South Africa

    Hotel

Book Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town when family comfort, polished service, and room to decompress matter more than boutique intimacy. It is a strong Cape Town splurge for multi-generation trips and return visits, especially if fixed dates make availability the bigger issue than comparison shopping.

    Nihi Sumba, Sumba, Indonesia
    #35

    Nihi Sumba

    Sumba, Indonesia

    Hotel

NIHI Sumba is a resort on Sumba island in Indonesia.

Badrutt's Palace is a hotel on Via Serlas in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

    Park Hyatt Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan
    #37

    Park Hyatt Kyoto

    Kyoto, Japan

    Hotel

Park Hyatt Kyoto is the splurge pick for first-time visitors who want Higashiyama on the doorstep and a calmer luxury base between temple walks. Its awards profile is strong, including Michelin 1 Key and World's 50 Best Hotels recognition, but the value case depends on using the east-side location rather than treating it as a generic Kyoto hotel.

    Hôtel du Couvent, Nice, France
    #38

    Hôtel du Couvent

    Nice, France

    Hotel

Book Hôtel du Couvent for a special-occasion Nice stay where the hotel's atmosphere is part of the point. Its Michelin 1 Key and World's 50 Best Hotels #27 recognition make it a serious luxury pick, but value is strongest for couples or polished business trips rather than travelers who only need a convenient base.

    Portrait Milano, Milan, Italy
    #39

    Portrait Milano

    Milan, Italy

    Hotel

Portrait Milano is a hotel on Corso Venezia in Milan.

Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Monte Carlo, Monaco
    #40

    Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo

    Monte Carlo, Monaco

    Hotel

Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo is a hotel on Casino Square in Monaco.

    Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris, France
    #41

    Hotel Plaza Athénée

    Paris, France

    Hotel

Hotel Plaza Athénée is worth booking when the trip calls for a full Paris palace-hotel stay on Avenue Montaigne, not just a place to sleep. Its 2024–2026 recognition across Michelin, Forbes, La Liste, and World's 50 Best Hotels supports the premium, but value-focused travelers should compare nearby Right Bank alternatives before committing.

    Hotel Sacher Wien, Vienna, Austria
    #42

    Hotel Sacher Wien

    Vienna, Austria

    Hotel

Hotel Sacher Wien is a historic hotel in central Vienna.

Estelle Manor, North Leigh, United Kingdom
    #43

    Estelle Manor

    North Leigh, United Kingdom

    Hotel

Estelle Manor is worth booking when the hotel is the point of the trip: a polished Oxfordshire estate stay with serious recognition behind it. It is harder to justify as a simple base for North Leigh or Oxford plans, but for a countryside weekend where design, setting, and full-property time matter, it sits above the local boutique pack.

Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc, Cap d'Antibes, France
    #44

    Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc

    Cap d'Antibes, France

    Hotel

Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc is a hotel in Cap d'Antibes, France.

    Hong Kong, Hong Kong

    Hotel

The Peninsula Hong Kong is a hotel on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya, Punta Maroma, Mexico
    #47

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya

    Punta Maroma, Mexico

    Hotel

Maroma, A Belmond Hotel, Riviera Maya is the stronger choice for travelers who want the hotel to carry the whole Punta Maroma trip, not just provide a beach room. Its MICHELIN Guide 2 Keys recognition gives it a serious luxury signal, but value-focused guests should compare Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun, Chablé Maroma, and Etéreo before deciding.

Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand
    #48

    Aman Nai Lert Bangkok

    Bangkok, Thailand

    Hotel

Aman Nai Lert Bangkok is a hotel in Bangkok's Nai Lert Park.

    The Connaught, London, United Kingdom
    #49

San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel, Taormina, Italy
    #50

San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel

    Taormina, Italy

    Hotel

San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel is the Taormina splurge to choose when the hotel is meant to anchor the trip, not just support it. Pay up for a room tier with outdoor space or a view only if you will use the property heavily; otherwise, compare NH Collection Taormina, Hotel Villa Carlotta, or Hotel Villa Ducale for a lighter spend.

    Overview

Rosewood Hong Kong is No. 1 in The 50 Best Hotels 2026, followed by Capella Bangkok and Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. The top 50 was announced in Paris on September 15, 2026. It is a global vote by more than 800 travel experts, not a hotel inspection score or a points-based amenities checklist.

The 50 Best Hotels, formerly The World's 50 Best Hotels, is organized by William Reed. Its 2026 top 50 was revealed in Paris on September 15. Rosewood Hong Kong retained the No. 1 position; Capella Bangkok placed second, Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River third, Atlantis The Royal fourth and Passalacqua fifth. Passalacqua also received the 2026 Best Hotel in Europe honor. Pearl preserves the published order and has a separate page for positions 51-100. The hotel ranking is determined by the Hotel Academy, not by Michelin inspectors or by the publisher's restaurant voters. More than 800 members are divided among 13 regions. Each panel consists of one-third travel journalists, one-third hoteliers and one-third seasoned luxury travelers; the organizer says membership has a 50/50 gender balance and refreshes at least 25% each year. Each member ranks seven individual hotels in preference order and must have stayed at each nominated property within the previous three years. The organizer asks for proof of the visit. Voting is confidential. Members cannot vote for a property in which they have a financial interest, and at most three of their choices may come from the same hotel group, including brands under a common parent. A hotel needs votes from more than one country, territory or SAR to appear. Closed properties, or those due to close shortly after publication, are ineligible. Hotels cannot apply or pay to be listed. There is no published numeric scoring rubric or predetermined amenities checklist; 'best' reflects the eligible voters' experiences and ordered preferences. Deloitte independently adjudicates the process and results.

Reviewed September 17, 2026 against The 50's September 15 results and current hotel voting rules. Hotel order and voting details describe the 2026 edition, not a live rating.

Follow the official 2026 order from Rosewood Hong Kong through the 50th-ranked hotel. Each property links to a Pearl place profile; compare its destination, character and practical details before choosing a stay.

    About This Edition

The 2026 top 50 was unveiled in Paris on September 15, two weeks after the extended 51-100 positions. The organizer adopted The 50 brand in September; older editions retain the World's 50 Best Hotels name. In this edition, the top three are in Hong Kong and Bangkok. The published ranking is a snapshot of Academy votes, not a permanent hotel grade or a guarantee of a particular room or service experience.
