Among the surprisingly memorable and adventurous boutique hotels of Tbilisi, Georgia is Unfound Door, a hotel whose unique name sums up its status as a hidden gem. This opulent century-old building remained untouched and unrestored until its new owners took it on, and spent two years transforming it into what it is today. Which is: a historical structure that retains much of its antique elegance and many of its period details, but which has been updated with contemporary flourishes and modern boutique-hotel comforts. Each of its 13 rooms is different, each one a unique work of hospitality art. And though the location, on vibrant Agmashenebeli Avenue, places it in the heart of its neighborhood’s action, it’s also home to an attraction of its own, in the form of the Unfound Door Restaurant.
