About FAUNA Montevideo
A 1927 heritage building on Montevideo's main pedestrian street, restored in 2016 and turned into ten suites that mix period details with an irreverent hand. Carrara marble staircases, stained-glass windows and original pine floors share space with contemporary art, mismatched vintage furniture and pieces made in-house. Playful without being precious, it resists the usual boutique-hotel earnestness. Mercado del Puerto, the city's iconic grill market, is a few blocks away; the Rambla waterfront promenade is three. Candombe drummers, fruit vendors and cruise passengers are all part of the street-level picture.
