About Tamao
After swapping the buzz of Kyoto for a quieter life in the French mountains, the owners of Tamao returned to their hometown to open a chambre d’hôte on the same street where their family has lived for generations. The traditional roof-tiled building and minimalist wood interiors blend in seamlessly with the city’s historic architecture, whilst the hotel’s tranquil atmosphere and eco-friendly ethos is a result of the owners’ slow-living lifestyle in rural France. The seven rooms are more like small apartments or two-floor maisonettes, with amenities such as kitchenettes, dining rooms, and balconies overlooking the private garden. And whilst the guest-house style means there isn’t a restaurant or bar, there is space for a gym, sauna, and a shared salon.
