About Meliá Chiang Mai
It’s a hotel best known as the highest spot in the city for sunset cocktails: Mai The Sky Bar serves up Spanish tapas and 360-degree views from a pair of rooftop bars connected by a striking glass walkway. But Meliá Chiang Mai has plenty more to recommend it, starting with its location on the banks of the Ping River, with one of the city’s busiest night bazaars at its doorstep. A modernist podium building houses the sleek breakfast area, spa and fitness center, and a resort-style pool, while the rooms are located in the adjacent 22-floor tower. With parquet floors, crisp white linens, and rainfall showers, they start out more than comfortable enough. But higher up, in the exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel Level area, suites feature chic sofas built-in along the windows, traditional Thai patterns and art objects, and lavishly appointed bathrooms with freestanding tubs.
