About Chateau de Massillan
Château de Massillan’s fortifications are impressive, and impressively historical — this 16th-century castle still looks up to the task of repelling invaders. But the luxury boutique hotel that’s grown up behind these turreted walls is a thoroughly modern one, incorporating original architectural elements but blending them seamlessly with modern additions, contemporary decorative elements and 21st-century artworks. The setting, in Provence’s Orange hinterlands, is an idyllic one, surrounded by world-famous vineyards, historical attractions both Roman and French, and, more immediately, ten hectares of verdant parkland. 34 rooms and suites come decorated in a warm and eclectic style, no two of them identical; one, the Lumipod, stands alone in the garden, and can be fully opened to the daytime breeze or the moonlight. An impressive spa incorporates aquatic treatments alongside more traditional massage therapies, while two pools keep guests cool during the warmer months. And like any Provençal hotel worth its salt, Château de Massillan makes much of the region’s culinary and oenophilic heritage; the gastronomic Restaurant Le M opens onto a tranquil view of the park.
