About Kameya Hotel
In terms of its location, Yunohama is one of Yamagata Prefecture’s loveliest hot spring towns: its picturesque coast is lined with hotels and inns overlooking the Sea of Japan, and its sandy shores face the largest swimming beach in the region. The newly renovated Kameya Hotel makes the most of all of it. Every room has a direct water view and a private onsen, or bath, though they vary in style — some are traditionally Japanese with tatami mats and smooth wood paneling, but one has a curving copper ceiling inspired by a nearby shrine, and another, a dream-like suite five stories above the ocean, is outfitted only in white and glass. Guests also have access to the hotel’s larger stone and cypress baths, one of which has ocean views, as well as the only natural spring-fed drinking fountain in town.
