About Pestana Porto A Brasileira
Perhaps the most charming hotel in Porto, the Pestana Porto A Brasileira is housed in what was once the Cafetaria Portuense A Brasileira, which was the first café in Porto to serve coffee in a cup when it opened back in 1903. It still serves coffee in its new role as the hotel’s all-day dining cafe, now called Historical Café, A Brasileira, which thankfully has retained its early 20th century splendor including ornate columns, decorative moldings and arched windows. Elsewhere the hotel has had a more modern makeover, although the shades of burnt orange, burgundy and brushed gold that feature in the contemporary rooms nod to the historic rich wood and gilded décor in the cafeteria downstairs. There’s also a restaurant, A Brasileira, which serves a modern twist on Portuguese cuisine. Other facilities include a gym, and the hotel can also organize cultural experiences such as guided city tours, river cruises, and visits to nearby wineries.
