The take
The Take
The Vibe
Ace Hotel Brooklyn reads as a design-first boutique that favors layered materiality and a measured sense of theater. The building by Stonehill Taylor frames the interiors, with Roman and Williams' industrial-romantic touch in warm industrial detailing and a careful sensitivity to mood. The result is contemporary without being anonymous: a hotel that balances deliberate modernity with textural warmth and a theatrical, interior register rather than a one-note aesthetic.
Best For
Ace Hotel Brooklyn is best for travelers who prize design thinking and a Brooklyn address that sits just off the well‑trodden tourist map. Its Boerum Hill location places guests adjacent to the borough's civic and commercial core while avoiding the polished tourist corridors to the north, making it a smart pick for business trips and short weekend escapes. The hotel reads as an editorial choice about where Brooklyn is headed, so design-minded visitors and those who want to be near downtown activity without staying in the most obvious neighborhoods will find it especially appealing.

Hotel context
How it compares
Ace Hotel Brooklyn is the stronger pick than Aloft New York Brooklyn if ambiance and design credibility matter more than a simpler chain-style stay. The trade-off is booking friction: with a hard booking profile and stronger recognition, Ace is the one to secure earlier, while Aloft is the easier fallback for travelers who mainly need a Brooklyn bed.
Choose 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge over Ace if the stay needs waterfront atmosphere and a more leisure-driven feel. Ace is better for travelers spending time around Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, and nearby neighborhoods, while 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge is the more obvious choice for views and a higher-polish Brooklyn weekend.
33 Hotel - NYC Seaport and 33 Hotel New York City Seaport make more sense when Lower Manhattan is the anchor. The Livingston - JDV by Hyatt is the cross-shop for travelers prioritizing Hyatt ecosystem convenience over Brooklyn character. For value, Ace is strongest when the location saves time; if it does not, the Seaport or Hyatt alternatives may be the cleaner decision.
