If you have stayed in Fira before and found the caldera-view hotels blurring into one another, Pegasus Suites is worth a second look; not because it reinvents the Santorini formula, but because its position in Imerovigli, the quieter clifftop village sitting just above Fira, gives returning visitors something the busier strips rarely deliver: space to actually see the view without fighting through tour groups to get to it.

The address alone; perched on the Imerovigli caldera edge, tells you the visual payoff is front and centre. Sunset from this stretch of the caldera path is consistently rated among the clearest sightlines on the island, without the Oia traffic that makes that village a logistical headache between July and September. For a special occasion trip, that matters more than it sounds: arriving at a caldera-edge suite and having the horizon largely to yourself at golden hour is the experience most visitors are chasing when they book Santorini.

On the question of family suitability, Santorini's clifftop architecture works against families with young children almost everywhere on the island. Imerovigli is no exception: the caldera-edge properties involve stepped paths, uneven surfaces, drops that require constant attention with small kids. Pegasus Suites, like its neighbours, is better suited to couples and adult groups. Families travelling with children old enough to manage the terrain independently will find it more workable, but if travelling with toddlers or infants, a beach-side property on the eastern coast of Santorini, or an alternative island altogether, is a more practical choice.

The Santorini shoulder season, specifically late April through early June and mid-September through October, gives you caldera views without the August peak crowds, lower accommodation rates, cooler temperatures that make walking the cliff paths between Imerovigli and Fira genuinely pleasant rather than exhausting. Booking during this window also tends to ease availability pressure compared to the July-August peak, when demand across all caldera-view properties tightens significantly.
