The Colle Alberti estate is unique even among its Tuscan neighbors; not only is it home to vineyards producing wines with the Chianti DOCG appellation, it’s also home to what was once the Medici family’s hunting estate. It’s also, as you might have guessed, home to the Colle Alberti Country House, a classic Tuscan villa whose interiors have been given a thoroughly, refreshingly contemporary makeover and now host the estate’s hospitality operation. Inside the house and the nearby granary and barn are 15 rooms and three suites, a size that makes for a convivial atmosphere but never a crowded one. Each unit is a soothing blend of modern minimalism and antique architecture, and all are luxurious, though not ostentatious. Guests visit Colle Alberti not to impress but to live the good life, Italian style — lounging by the poolside, tasting wines from the capacious cellar, and dining on elevated Tuscan classics made from fresh local ingredients.
