A Mondavi-focused dinner
This is a winemaker dinner and seated wine tasting dinner centred on Robert Mondavi Winery, the Mondavi legacy and To Kalon wines going back to 1995. The programme is presented as an intimate dinner with Director of Winemaking Kurtis Ogasawara.
Robert Mondavi established his namesake winery in 1966 with the ambition of creating wines that would bear comparison with the world’s best. The event materials also highlight his 1968 Fumé Blanc, described as an oaked, dry white that became a distinctly Californian style.
The wines named for the dinner
The listed wines include 2012 and 2022 Reserve Fumé Blanc from To Kalon Vineyard, 2014 and 2022 The Estates Chardonnay from Carneros, and 1995, 2009 and 2017 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from To Kalon Vineyard. The programme also names a 2023 Limited Edition 60th Anniversary wine.
To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon is described as Mondavi’s most critically acclaimed wine and as a wine that helped cement the reputation of the vineyard and winery. The vineyard is now 100% organically farmed under Kurtis Ogasawara.
Kurtis Ogasawara and 67 Pall Mall
Kurtis Ogasawara’s career path includes an athletics scholarship place at University of California Davis, early work in sparkling wine at Mumm Napa and Domaine Chandon, three years at Newton Vineyard and a move to Robert Mondavi Winery in 2015. Within a decade there, he rose to Director of Winemaking.
67 Pall Mall is the organiser and host venue in London. The dinner is scheduled for the Marlborough Room, with a welcome reception before dinner begins and an announced dinner end time.
