    About Ullrhaus - St. Anton

To call Ullrhaus a ski hotel would be a bit of an understatement — it’s named for Ullr, the Norse god of snow, and it’s set in St. Anton am Arlberg, the Tyrolean village that is arguably the birthplace of Alpine skiing and offers access to Austria’s largest interconnected ski area. In such a setting an ordinary Alpine lodge might be enough, but Ullrhaus is far from ordinary. This strikingly contemporary hotel takes its cues from modern luxury boutique hospitality, and aesthetically it feels like an Alpine-Nordic hybrid, with an emphasis on warm, simple textures and a sparseness that reads to some as quasi-Japanese. Its rooms range from spacious and well-equipped doubles to two-bedroom family suites; the Grand Suite comes with a private sauna. Meanwhile the spa features multiple saunas of its own, as well as a 17-meter indoor pool. Ullrhaus’s restaurant makes explicit the marriage of Alpine, Nordic, and Japanese influences, and on Thursdays through Saturdays during the winter season there’s a nine-course tasting menu that’s far above and beyond typical après-ski fare, to say the very least. And of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that St. Anton am Arlberg is very nearly as attractive in summer as it is in winter, with no end of opportunity for hikers, bikers, and climbers.
