About Parkhotel Holzner
The Renon Railway built this hotel in 1908 as the upper terminus for its mountain line. The first architectural proposal was dismissed as too urban for the setting, and the Swiss Alpine Art Nouveau version that replaced it has barely changed since. At 1,200 metres above Bolzano, with the cable car still running guests up from the valley, it remains exactly what it was designed to be. Rooms have plank floors and mountain-facing balconies, the Liberty Spa has indoor and outdoor pools, and the 1908 restaurant keeps the founding year in its name.
