Sitting in the heart of the unspoiled Sologne region surrounded by the forest and Loire Valley châteaux is the Auberge du Cheval Blanc, a traditional 17th century coaching inn turned intimate guest house. The historic half-timbered exterior hides just seven guest rooms, which have been simply dressed with floral wallpapers and vintage-style dark wood furnishings. In the restaurant, rustic beams add to the old-world charm whilst on the menu, the creative, seasonal cuisine showcases the local Sologne terroir and Loire Valley wines. There’s also a large terrace in the attractive garden for al fresco summer dining.
