    About The Lalu Qingdao

At this rate, it’s only a matter of time before China has as many extraordinary hotels as the whole rest of the world put together. The Lalu Qingdao is the first mainland venture from the Taiwanese group responsible for the phenomenal Sun Moon Lake hotel, and it’s rather more than just a toe in the water — this place, designed by Kerry Hill, the architect responsible for so many of Asia’s best high-end hotels, verges on the monumental, and the location, just across the bay from the city of Qingdao, is positively otherworldly. This is the sort of hotel where an Ocean View Suite is the absolute bottom of the range of accommodations — from there you will, if you’ve got the means, work your way right past the Presidential Suite to the Sea Villa or the Cliff Villa, each one possibly better suited to a Bond villain than to a mere mortal traveler. Six restaurants serve a range of cuisines, five from all across Asia and one representing France. China is mad for wine at the moment, and you’ll find bottles stacked all the way to the double-height ceiling. And not only is there a world-class full-service spa, but one that incorporates a Japanese-style onsen hot spring. It’s a high-concept, high-design, high-luxury resort to match any we’ve seen in the world — and if you don’t regularly find yourself headed out Qingdao way, perhaps it’s time to change that. How to get there: The Lalu Qingdao is approximately 50 km by car from Qingdao Liuting International Airport via S61, S329, and S399.
