About La Monnaie
La Rochelle’s Vieux Port could hardly be more picturesque; some of its construction dates back to the 12th century. In this context the 17th-century mint building that houses La Monnaie Art & Spa Hotel is rather on the new side, but its exteriors still contrast vividly with its ultra-modern interiors, done up in vibrant colors and contemporary design furniture. The art collection, as promised by the name, is an impressive one, and the spa, though smallish, is more than up to the task. There’s no restaurant beyond breakfast, though there are plenty of fine ones nearby, and the hotel bar serves a light menu in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
