Ghent may not be a vast metropolis, but it’s big enough to sustain at least one very hip youth-focused boutique hotel. Yalo Urban Boutique Hotel is a high-design hotspot in Brabantdam, just to the east of the city center, convenient to no end of retail, dining, and entertainment destinations. The latter two, of course, are among Yalo’s strengths — in addition to its chic modernist-inspired rooms it’s got an open-plan bar and restaurant by chef Jasper Maatman, serving everything from breakfast on through to a Mediterranean-inspired dinner menu as well as wine, cocktails, and local beers.
