    About Casa Sagnier

Though not as widely celebrated as his famous contemporary Antoni Gaudí, architect Enric Sagnier designed hundreds of Barcelona’s Modernist buildings. Casa Sagnier, completed in 1892, served as his family home and studio for the latter half of his life; lately it’s been reimagined as a stylish boutique hotel that pays subtle homage to the Spanish architect. The location on Rambla de Catalunya in the heart of L’Eixample — the same neighborhood where many of Sagnier’s works are highlighted on sightseeing tours — is just one of its many assets. Chief among them is the building itself. The elegant stone façade, with wrought-iron balconies, makes a striking first impression, its oversized picture windows offering a view into the hotel’s busy street-level café and eatery. Upstairs, rooms and suites are modern and cozy with pale parquet floors, leather and wood furnishings, and spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers and locally produced bath products. A surprising number come with private balconies or interior patios, and the best rooms have large terraces with sun loungers and potted plants. Casa Sagnier also features a cozy fireplace room, a fitness center, a rooftop terrace lounge, and a lively ground-level bar with plush banquette seating and great people-watching.
