About Palace de Menthon
It’s clear at a glance that Le Palace de Menthon is no newcomer to the Lake Annecy luxury-hotel scene; this early-20th-century edifice is a slice of old-world heaven right by the water’s edge. And while its historical romance is still very much in evidence, it’s seen some substantial upgrades, and is today on a level with the best 21st-century luxury hotels — though with a character few of them can match. With the hillside behind it, most of the palace’s rooms look directly out over the lake. Inside, they’re a surprising blend of classic and contemporary, with antique echoes alongside unexpectedly vibrant mural walls. The comforts are plush, but not over-the-top; the experience is only complete with the addition of the hotel’s public spaces, from its gardens and parkland to its Sothys spa and its restaurant, which takes in a lakeside panorama through a wrap-around Art Deco bay window.
