Philipponnat’s Clos des Goisses is an iconic cuvée, ever since it became the region’s first important single vineyard Champagne in 1935. The clos is perfectly situated in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, on a fully south-facing slope above the Marne river, on pure chalk. The combination of soils, slope, warmth create a special balance in the wine that is, somewhat unusually for a Tête de Cuvée Champagne, produced every year since 1988. We are privileged to be joined by Charles Philipponnat, who will share an amazing snapshot of his family’s legacy through a wonderful lineup of some of Clos des Goisses’ best vintages of the past 30 years, including a trio of the extremely rare Clos des Goisses Rosé and closing with a journey back in time with the 1979 vintage. The wines will be paired with a tasting menu from Chef Jon Yao at DTLA’s celebrated Michelin-starred restaurant Kato, the LA Times’ #1 restaurant in 2024.
