Comparing Twelve directly against CORE by Clare Smyth, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Sketch, The Lecture Room and Library, The Ledbury, or Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is largely an exercise in different categories. All five are ££££ London operations with Michelin stars and the booking difficulty, formality, per-head spend that come with that tier. Choose Moor Hall or L'Enclume if the occasion calls for a full-destination fine-dining experience and you're willing to plan further ahead and spend more. Choose Twelve if you want consistently strong cooking, a genuinely characterful room, a bill that leaves room for the wine.
