50 Top Pizza, established in 2017 by Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere, works in two phases: a large survey among anonymous inspectors, followed by anonymous visits in which inspectors assess the pizzeria as a whole; the pizza itself, service, atmosphere, waiting times and the beverage selection. That whole-experience approach distinguishes it from evaluations focused solely on the product. The European edition covers pizzerias outside Italy, which are ranked separately from the guide's Italian, American, Asia-Pacific, Latin American and World lists. Pearl's count is a mapped figure produced by its own venue-matching process and is independent of the guide's ranking.
