About Crathorne Hall
One of North Yorkshire’s classic country houses, Crathorne Hall was built at the dawn of the 20th century, and during its time as a private house it counted among its guests such eminences as the Queen Mother, King (then Prince) Charles and two members of Monty Python. It’s now well into its second career as a country-house hotel, and as a member of Hand Picked Hotels, it’s among the finest in the region — and retains, to an impressive degree, its historical character. Functionally, of course, it’s thoroughly up to date; the rooms and suites come with high-tech comforts as well as low-tech luxuries like Hypnos mattresses and views over the Leven Valley. And outside of the bedrooms, you’ll find the country-house life perfectly represented: the Edwardian Room and the Nancy Tennant Bar serve tea, drinks, and much else, and the Leven Restaurant is a contemporary classic in a richly historic dining room.
