About Château de Pondres
Not far from the medieval village of Sommières is the Château de Pondres, a castle with a long history: first attested in the 11th century, the present structure was built in the 17th, lost to a fire in the 18th, and meticulously reconstructed at the dawn of the 21st century. Its ten rooms are divided between the castle and an annex by the pool; the latter are unmistakable contemporary in style, but benefit from the same tranquil atmosphere. Nearly 40 acres of verdant parkland lie at your feet, and there’s a spa in an old stone vault; the restaurant, La Canopée, is a fine-dining venue with impressive views of the park and the gardens.
