This former 19th-century cavalry school in Vienna’s Landstraße district has seen many lives - military academy, grand cinema, even a post-war bus depot. Now a hotel, its renovation is elegant and characterful, with equestrian touches threaded through burnished leathers, custom lighting, and playful room details. The terracotta façade is original, and guests linger in the apple-tree garden once planted by Franz Joseph I, now the city’s largest private green space. The building’s many pasts are folded into the experience, subtly, and always in service of the present.
