Even in Milan or Florence a hotel like Butterfly Boutique Rooms, mixing classic architecture and the latest in high-end Italian interior design, would stand out. In the smaller Veneto city of Verona — which, for all its considerable charms, isn’t exactly the capital of Italian fashion and design — it’s practically unique. Its owners, Verona natives, traveled frequently for business, and set out to bring the best of what they saw abroad back to their home town. With just six units it’s got an atmosphere that’s more guest house than hotel, and while one of them is a compact 21 square meters, the rest are suites or junior suites, with seemingly acres of space to work with. Perhaps more important than their square footage, however, is that they’re furnished with exquisite taste, most of the pieces sourced from Italian makers: Poltrona Frau, Campeggi, Riva 1920, and many more. Breakfast is not served, but in every room you’ll find a Nespresso machine, a complimentary minibar, and a few sweet treats to start your day off right. Given the location, in Verona’s scenic old town, you can’t walk a hundred yards without stumbling over a restaurant — let Butterfly staff be your guide.
