Imagine you had a pair of stylish friends who bought and restored an old Victorian house on the Isle of Wight, stocked the kitchen with great wine and produce from the local farmer’s market, then invited you to stay for the weekend. That’s what it’s like to check in at the Terrace Rooms and Wine, a boutique guesthouse set just above Ventnor’s historic esplanade. It has just six rooms, each with a handcrafted Hypnos bed and views over the water. One has a fireplace and a charming built-in window seat, another has a clawfoot tub positioned in front of large bay windows. Everyone’s invited to a four-course breakfast and evening wine tastings led by the owner, who also cooks up a communal feast on Friday nights using only products sourced on the island. The onsite wine shop is also a great spot to pick up a bottle for a picnic or a boat ride up the coast.
