About Stora Hotellet
Umeå’s seafaring history is preserved in this fine (and fun) boutique hotel, a former sailor’s lodging that first opened its doors in 1895. Today’s Stora Hotellet is rather more luxurious than it would have been a century ago, and the fantastic aspects of its heritage have been turned up to ten — the rooms are divided into themes like “adventure,” “yearning,” and “mystique.” The original owner, Gotthard Zetterburg, lends his impressive name to the hotel’s restaurant, Gotthard’s Krog, a versatile and richly detailed space that serves everything from breakfast on through to dinner and late-night drinks.
