About Montanema Handmade Village
In 1999, a hiker named Christos Athanasiadis came across a small wooden hut in the fog of the Anthochori gorge, among fir, walnut and cedar trees, 4.5 kilometers from Lake Plastira, and liked it enough to build a village around it. Stone by stone, Montanema grew into a cluster of cottages, mansions and villas where exposed timber, open fireplaces and wood-burning stoves define the atmosphere. Three wood-fired ovens and a kitchen garden supply the restaurant; the cellar is stocked with wines from small Greek producers. Deeply handmade, in every sense.
