Please note: Faraway Sag Harbor is accepting reservations from June 2026 onward. The original Sag Harbor resort (formerly known as Baron’s Cove) has decades of history under its belt; as early as the middle of the 20th century it was a glamorous if low-key escape for the likes of Paul Newman and Jackson Pollock. Over the years it’s grown steadily more upscale, and in between the 2025 and 2026 seasons it saw a significant renovation and rebranding at the hands of the bohemian-luxe Faraway Hotels brand, which leaves Faraway Sag Harbor a little bit more polished without sacrificing the richness of its decades-spanning character. Its 67 rooms and suites vary in their settings and layouts; some, like the Lofts, feel quasi-urban, while others sit tucked into quiet gardens. They’re full of visual interest without ever lapsing into seaside kitsch, and the comforts are first-class and up-to-date. And there’s much more to it than just accommodations; this compound-style estate has its own heated saltwater pool as well as a tennis court, and a fleet of bikes for loan helps guests navigate the town and the waterfront in style. One last upgrade is Zagara, the restaurant, which features the flavors of the Amalfi Coast.
