About Naturresort \u0026 Spa Schindelbruch
Germany is home to multiple climate-neutral hotels, but Naturresort & Spa Schindelbruch, opened in 2009, was the very first. This wellness-focused luxury resort was constructed on the foundations of an old hunting lodge in the Harz Mountains, now part of a large biosphere reserve popular with cyclists and hikers. A natural spring nearby underpins the resort’s water supply, sourcing a large thermal pool and a series of saunas and steam baths, and the restaurant serves seasonal cuisine paired with wines from ecologically responsible wineries. Rooms in the original building are bright and elegant, with large windows facing the surrounding beech forest, while those in the newer addition next door are more lavishly appointed with private terraces, extra-spacious modern bathrooms, and custom-made art installations.
