About Petit Soleil
Petit Soleil styles itself as a “boutique bed and beverage,” on the hunch, presumably, that the Californian and French wines, the local beers and ciders, and the classic cocktails are a bigger draw than the (admittedly impressive) breakfast. San Luis Obispo is, after all, at the heart of California’s other wine country, the southern counterpart to Napa and Sonoma. This viticultural connection also explains the pervasive Frenchness of Petit Soleil, whose rooms could almost pass for Parisian, if not for their alarming spaciousness. In addition to the daily breakfast service there’s a complimentary apéritif hour, and when weather permits — and it almost always does — the revelry spills out onto Petit Soleil’s charming patios.
