About Hôtel Hemen
Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, on Charente-Maritime’s Atlantic coast, is a lovely little seaside town marked by colorful examples of Basque-style architecture — one of which is the 1920s villa that’s now home to the Hôtel Hemen, a luxury boutique hotel whose chic interiors and high-end comforts belie its low-key atmosphere. There’s a wellness area equipped with a hammam and a treatment cabin, and both paddleboards and electric bikes are available to rent. Meanwhile the restaurant, Chez Bob, is three in one: an open-air brasserie with a sea view, a brunch and tapas spot in the garden, and a few tables set by the side of the pool.
