About Another Place\u002c The Machrie
Golf purists will recognize the appeal of a trip to Islay, in the Inner Hebrides rests not on a hotel, but on the Machrie Links, a Willie Campbell course that dates back to 1891. As long as you’re there, though, it certainly helps that the hotel is as impressive as it is. The Machrie is hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray’s first hotel in Scotland, and it’s everything you’d expect it to be — fantastically luxurious but impeccably tasteful about it, and historically aware but never old-fashioned. Even non-golfers will appreciate the dramatic landscapes and the extensive wellness offerings, and the restaurant, with its panoramic sea views, serves upscale locally sourced fare.
