About Zhiwaling Heritage
With the advent of the Zhiwaling hotels, there’s now a Bhutanese alternative to the small handful of resorts that constitute the local high-end hospitality scene. Zhiwaling Heritage is set in the scenic Paro Valley, not far from the famous Tiger’s Nest Temple. And while it may be less precariously perched than the temple, the hotel, with its wealth of hand-painted detail and traditional architecture, is scarcely less picturesque. The suites are spacious, sunny, and mix sparse design with intricate, lavish detailing. They’re divided among a number of outlying cottages, and all of them feature views of the resort’s unspoiled natural surroundings. Outdoor recreation is an area of particular focus, and the word “heritage” in the hotel’s name is no accident either — among the experiences are many cultural activities, with a tea house, a temple, and an archery range on site.
