About Grand Coeur Latin
Sitting just around the corner from the Sorbonne in a quiet, intellectual pocket of the Latin Quarter is the Hôtel Grand Coeur Latin, an elegant little luxury hotel which is a fine ambassador for this famously eclectic neighborhood. It’s a site of some distinction: beneath the current building lies not only a 13th-century abbey, but, discovered during a 2022 renovation, a Roman ruin and numerous artefacts. More recently, the hotel lived a former life as one of the neighborhood’s many cinemas. It’s the hotel’s ancient beginnings that have inspired the design, however: the present-day spa with its impressive pool takes its cues from classic Roman baths, and throughout the hotel an arch motif recalls the abbey’s archway. Rooms are spread across seven floors, each one decorated in its own carefully focused color palette; even the single rooms are swanky, if cozy, while the suites are luxurious indeed. The Grand Coeur Latin goes without a restaurant, but room service is available and its stylish bar serves drinks accompanied by light fare until eleven at night.
