About Caravan Outpost
Tucked away in the Topatopa Mountains between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, bohemian Ojai — famous for its mystical sunsets, scenic hiking trails, lively art galleries, and spiritual retreats — is the Sedona of southern California. The perfect place, in other words, for a hotel made up of a collection of refurbished Airstream trailers and a tiny house. Arranged in a semi-circle around a lush botanical garden, each has a private outdoor space framed by greenery, and a few come with hammocks strung up between palm trees. Each of Caravan Outpost’s lodgings is unique — some Airstreams feature original vintage fittings, while others are newer. Inside, they’re compact and cleverly outfitted with a queen bed and a double foldout, both made up in high-end linens, as well as modern kitchenettes and bathrooms with showers. The singular cabin is similar in size, but with two levels of space, the lofted sleeping area tucked away beneath quaint wood-beamed ceilings. There’s no bar or restaurant on site, but the central garden is an oasis ideal for coffee, picnics, or drinks under the stars, and the hotel provides bikes for pedaling around town.
