About Margaret Hotel Chouleur
Tucked away in an opulent mansion in Nîmes’ UNESCO-protected historic center, just a few blocks from the famous Roman amphitheater, Margaret Hotel Chouleur may well be the most romantic boutique hotel in town. It’s hard to say which space is the loveliest — the striking ground-level Rouge restaurant, with its high-arching scarlet walls and towering bar, the elegant library with its jewel-toned sofas and vintage cocktail carts, or the grand spiral staircase leading up to the sophisticated rooms and suites, with their hardwood floors, leather furnishings, and boldly tiled bathrooms. But the distinction probably belongs to the hotel’s open-air courtyard: bordered on three sides by the building’s decorative walls and strung with twinkling lights, it’s a wildly picturesque spot for a morning dip in the plunge pool or a sunset apéritif.
