About Hotel Marcel
Brutalism is back in style, and the spectacular Bauhaus-inspired Brutalist landmark that Marcel Breuer built in the Sixties for the Pirelli tire company is back in business, this time as a design-focused hotel. Hotel Marcel New Haven, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a mouthful, but it gets the point across: it’s a celebration of a unique architect, and an unusually distinctive hotel, despite its corporate parentage. It’s also uniquely green: it’s LEED Platinum certified, and it generates 100% of its own power via solar arrays. The interiors are a tribute to the original, rather than a recreation; safe to say there’s nothing else in New Haven quite like it.
