About Galopina
There’s much more to the Yucatán than the Caribbean resort towns. In the inland countryside near Mérida, surrounded by the jungle landscapes of the Cenotes Rings State Reserve, is Galopina, a five-room escape whose architectural distinction and residential atmosphere make it quite unlike anything else in the region. Five suites, to be precise — each one comes with a private terrace and a view of the surrounding greenery. The style is modern but warm, its visual spareness emphasizing rich textures in concrete and wood. Meals are served in the house’s dining room or on the terrace, and are crafted from local ingredients, including the produce of the hotel’s own garden. And while quiet seclusion is Galopina’s stock in trade, there’s plenty to do in the region: the countryside is dotted with cenotes and archaeological sites, the towns of Izamal and Valladolid are close by, and the city of Mérida is less than an hour away.
