Considering it’s part of a chain with dozens of hotels across Spain, Vincci Selección Posada del Patio, in Málaga’s old town, is surprisingly full of character. As the name suggests, this luxury hotel occupies a historic posada, but the site itself is much older — glass panels in the lobby reveal ruins of the ancient city walls, including Roman-built stone sections that date back to the fifth century. These days, the interiors are modern but fanciful, with art installations resembling flamenco fans framing the reception, abundant greenery around every corner, and vibrant murals cascading across the walls. Rooms are similarly contemporary and colorful, with parquet floors and bold, tropical-inspired art. Some have balconies and separate living rooms, including newly refurbished suites, located on an exclusive floor with its own terrace. For everyone else, there’s the rooftop with a plunge pool and views over the city skyline.
