Classic English country house or contemporary spa escape? Visitors to Mallory Court, in Warwickshire, are faced with a choice, at least when it comes to the placement of their bedroom. The original Luytens-style house, which dates back to 1916, is perhaps the headline attraction, and contains nineteen rooms and suites in a style that is, if not strictly antique, at least in keeping with the early 20th-century architecture. But to the Manor has been added a second structure, the Orchard House, which is home to most of the rest of the accommodations, in a more boutique-influenced modern style — as well as the lavish Elan Spa. A few more rooms in the contemporary vein occupy the Knight’s Suite, which is not a suite at all but an events space and a popular wedding venue. In any style, the bedrooms are luxurious, and the service is professional but neither excessively formal nor overly familiar. The spa’s seven treatment rooms and its various pools and lounges make for easy relaxation, as do the house’s extensive gardens and grounds. The Warwick is the house’s award-winning fine dining venue, and Sencha is the Asian inspired casual eatery located in Orchard House.
