About eph KYOTO
Though Kyoto draws visitors for its traditional architecture and design and its deep historical associations, Eph Kyoto embraces modernity, even while nodding to the storied past. Eph’s façade itself cuts a striking figure on its street in the Minami ward — almost baroque by another culture’s standards, its weaving lines are a reference to the traditional Kyoto kimono. Inside, details in the wooden walls are reminiscent of traditional wooden homes and their construction. Rooms are modern and sumptuously colored and appointed, each featuring a floor-length window looking out onto a unique rock garden. Eph’s breakfasts offer guests a selection of Japanese, Chinese, and Western mainstays, with an emphasis on local ingredients.
