Anantara Kolkata Hotel

Do not treat Kolkata’s next Anantara as a near-term stay option. In the city’s eastward business-development push around Salt Lake, Anantara Kolkata Hotel is a future World Trade Center anchor, slated to open in 2032, so the decision today is less “should this be booked?” and more “is this worth watching for a future business or event stay?”

The strongest case is location and format. The planned 170-key property is tied to the upcoming World Trade Center Salt Lake Kolkata, a mixed-use development from Aryan Realty and Merlin Group. That matters for business travelers because the project is explicitly positioned around the convergence of business and hospitality in Eastern India, rather than a leisure-only resort narrative.

A future Salt Lake base, not a live Kolkata booking

For now, expectations should stay disciplined. There is no usable room-rate, dining, spa, pool, check-in, or booking detail to judge value against current Kolkata hotels. Families planning travel now should not build an itinerary around it; event planners and business travelers should treat it as a 2032 opening to monitor, especially if Salt Lake access is more useful than a heritage-city-center stay.

The Anantara brand context is relevant but not enough to make a full recommendation yet. Minor Hotels is expanding through luxury and premium brands including Anantara, Avani, and NH Collection, with stated emphasis on experiential, wellness-led resorts and contemporary lifestyle hotels. That signals the intended lane, but the actual guest experience in Kolkata will depend on confirmed rooms, facilities, service model, and pricing closer to launch.

Quick reference: future 2032 opening; planned 170-key World Trade Center Salt Lake Kolkata anchor; not currently a bookable stay.
