In a city that has been home to three major civilizations, there’s no shortage of historic buildings to admire in Istanbul. Standing at more than 100 years old — it originally opened in 1912 — the Orientbank Hotel Istanbul might not be quite as impressively ancient as some of them, but it still has its own distinctive good looks to be proud of, including its original façade, copper terrace dome, marble spiral staircase, and wooden revolving door. The rest of the hotel blends the old with the new, as Art Deco touches in the contemporary rooms nod to the hotel’s early years, and whilst the Jazz Bar is another 1920s reference, being able to contact your butler via WhatsApp is a thoroughly modern touch. The view of the city is timeless though, as seen from the hotel’s viewing terrace.
