    About Les Jardins de Coppélia

Midway between Deauville and Honfleur on the coast of Normandy, the tiny village of Pennedepie has only a few places to stay, most notably Les Jardins de Coppélia, a 17th-century manor house converted into a luxury hotel overlooking the sea. Little has changed about its stately wood and slate façade, an unconventional mélange of steep gables, decorative archways, and details including a fairy-tale turret and an antique dinner bell over the entryway. But its modern interiors are the result of sweeping renovations, and the surrounding gardens have been updated accordingly, with a large wood-lined swimming pool added on one side and twinkling lights suspended over outdoor café tables on the other. There’s an old-world flair to rooms and suites with vaulted white ceilings, exposed beams, and rustic parquet floors, but it’s offset by bold, colorful accents and sleek designer furnishings by Roche Bobois. Each room is unique — some have original fireplaces, and others feature clawfoot tubs. But all have Nespresso machines and digital tablets for booking treatments at the Garancia Spa or Le Capucine, the ground-floor restaurant serving seasonally inspired menus with sea views. Natural wines, cocktails made with local herbs, and ciders produced at nearby Manoir d’Apreval are served at the tiki bar by the pool and at the stylish Le P’tit YARD, modeled after the original Le YARD wine bar in Paris. The beach is minutes away, as are the region’s historic port towns.
