Brussels is a major city, but a compact one, and you don’t have to get very far out of town before urban life gives way to peaceful countryside. Indrani Lodge is less than an hour’s drive from the city center, in the village of Loupoigne, but that’s more than far enough for this restored medieval farm to serve as an escape for all sorts of travelers, from couples on the run for a weekend from Brussels to a full house of guests attending one of Indrani Lodge’s yoga retreats. (Yoga is an everyday specialty here; retreats aside, multiple classes are held daily.) The medieval farmhouse buildings conceal ultra-modern interiors. Indrani Lodge’s rooms, all unique, combine period architecture with contemporary design and contemporary art, resulting in living quarters that are timelessly stylish — and more than a little bit luxurious. The spaces vary from merely large to downright sprawling, in the case of the 200-square-meter Loft, and if you’re traveling with your family or entourage, the whole house is available all at once. Meanwhile a wellness center offers massages, as well as a sauna and a heated indoor pool. And the restaurant, Elements, is joined by Petits Elements, both serving dishes crafted from local and seasonal ingredeints, many grown on site.
