About Little Arches Boutique Hotel
Little Arches is something rare in today’s Caribbean — this tiny family-owned boutique feels at once exclusive and down-home, remote and insular yet of a piece with its surroundings. Something of a contradiction, to be sure, but that’s part of the appeal; the feeling is one of intimate seclusion, yet the village of Oistins is within walking distance, and its weekly block party and regular outdoor fish fry offer a taste of authentic Caribbean culture that’s hard to come by at the bigger or more rarefied resorts. With just twelve rooms, Little Arches feels like little more than an upscale bed and breakfast — even the honeymoon suites are suitably restrained, with whirlpool tubs on private terraces the only extravagance. Interiors are simple and contemporary, but neither off-puttingly modern nor ostentatiously luxurious; the look is somewhat urbane and cosmopolitan, though wicker furniture and tile floors are identifiably Caribbean. The rooftop pool deck alone is worth the price of admission, and the Café Luna restaurant offers al fresco dining of a caliber far higher than the average Caribbean hotel experience. Golfers can play at Barbados Golf Club, the white sands of Enterprise Beach are just steps away, the hotel’s yacht is available for charter, and there’s no end to the variety of diving excursions available. All in all it’s quite a bit more than you’d expect from a small family operation — you’ll never think of going to one of the all-inclusive megaresorts again. Please note: Little Arches offers adult only accommodation and welcomes guests 16 years of age and older. How to get there: Little Arches is six miles or a fifteen minute drive from Barbados airport, and a taxi will cost about $15 USD. Taxis are usually available at the airport, but a private transfer can be arranged.
